
EURO Reunion: Belgium and Italy Face Off Again in EURO group stage

Belgium and Italy travel to Stade de Tourbillon for a 17:00 kick off in their opening game of the 2025 Women’s Euro tournament as the teams meet again in the Euro group stage.
Last time at the UEFA Women’s EURO tournament:
BELGIUM
After successfully qualifying as the winners of Group H during Euro 2022 qualification, Belgium looked a strong side amongst Group D.
Group D, during Euro 2022, played host to Italy, Belgium, France and Iceland.
During Belgium’s opening match, Iceland held the team to a draw, forcing them settle for a 1-1 draw which occurred due to a penetaly scored by Justine Vanhaevermaet.
Belgium’s success didn’t follow, in their next match against France where they suffered a 2-1 defeat.
However, when up against Italy, the Belgian side managed to secure a 1-0 win, giving them a total of four points after their final match.
Belgium’s run in the 2022 tournament didn’t end there as following them placing second in the group, they advanced to the quarter-finals.
Placed against a difficult Sweden side, Belgium suffered a late 1-0 defeat just minutes ahead of the game heading into extra time.
Unfortunately, this meant Belgium bowed out of the tournament in the quarter-finals, failing to advance to the semi-finals.
ITALY
After qualifying for the 2022 tournament, through the group stage as runners-up, advancement to the knockout phase looked potential for the Italian side who were placed in Group D.
Group D saw host to Italy, Belgium, France and Iceland.
Italy’s opening match against France saw Italy fail to gain any points following a 5-1 loss, forcing Italy to head into the rest of the tournament with a devastating and drastic defeat.
Italy then went on to play Iceland, where they managed to grasp one point following a late 1-1 draw.
Italy’s final match failed secure the team any additional points as Belgium secured a 1-0 win.
Italy exited bottom of the group alongside Iceland, after only managing to secure one point.
Previous Meetings:
Having previously met in the tournaments Group Stage, Italy will be hoping for redemption against Belgium following the 1-0 defeat during the 2022 Euros.
Their most recent meeting once again favoured the red flames as Belgium secured a 2-1 win in a friendly held in England.

The match is set to be played at the Stade de Tourbillon at 17:00 BST (18:00 CET) on Thursday, July 3rd, and can be streamed in the UK on BBC.
What’s next for the two teams?:
Belgium’s next game is set to be played against Spain at Arena Thun on Monday, July 7th, at 17:00 BST.
Italy are then set to face Belgium, on the same day, at Stade de Genève in Geneva for a 20:00 BST kick-off.
