Arsenal and City share the points as they draw at The Emirates whilst Miedema goes onto score against her old club.
Arsenal Women took on Manchester city women at the Emirates as both teams are up for the title race.
Vivianne Miedema will come face to face with her old Club Arsenal as she transferred to Manchester City during the 2024 transfer window.
Will Manchester city finish with the title this season?
STARTING XI-
Arsenal: Zinsberger, Fox, Wubben-moy, Codina, Mariona, Little(C), Mccabe, Manuum, Foord, Blackstenius, Cooney-cross
Manchester City: Yamashita, Aleixandri, Greenwood(C), Miedema, Hemp, Ouahabi, Park, Casparij, Fujino, Shaw, Hasegawa

Kick off:
Both teams began with a low tempo for the first opening minutes; however as the tempo begans to quicken, Miedema took the arsenal defence by surprise as she sees zinsberger of her line but fails to find the back of the net.
In the seventh minute, Frida Manuum managed to hit the back of the net making it 1-0 to Arsenal following a right footed shot from the box which was assist from Blackstenius.
This was soon followed by an attempt missed, after Blackstenius' shot goes wide as she comes against Yamashita, continuing to cause problems for the city defence.
City still struggled to break down the Arsenal defence.
This meant that Bunny Shaw had to drop deep to attempt to influence the play for City.
Substitution for City, not long before half time, as Leilaouahabi was forced off injured being replaced with Alanna Kennedy.
Despite all this, it wasn't long until Miedema hit the back of the net, as her shot took a deflection and curled into the top corner.Â
A great save by the Manchester city goalkeeper, Yamashita, denied Blackstenius.
First half ends 1-1.
What did City have to do to overcome Arsenal?
Manchester City struggled to break through the Arsenal defence as they remained in a comfortable 4-4-2 formation.
This also meant that City struggled to capitalise on their chances, sometimes seeming difficult to reach those other sky blue shirts.
To gain another goal they needed to be able to play the ball through to players such as Jess Park and Bunny Shaw.
What did Arsenal have to do to win the game?
Arsenal needed to maintain a strong defensive shape trying to not allow players through their defence.
Caitlin Foord needs to continue down the wing as she is providing players with the ball assisting Arsenal.
Second Half:
There was no changes for either team during half time.
Foord almost secured a goal yet it was called offside during the opening minutes.
The home side continued to charge forward but have struggled to finish their chances.
However,it was Park to reopen the scoreline with a brilliant strike to find City 2-1 up as it went into the net.
Arsenal respond with a substitution bringing on Russo and Mead as Blackstenius and Foord make way.
Another chance for city but it ends up in the hands of Zinsberger as Hasegawa cannot get the contact with the ball like she wanted.
Substitution soon came for both clubs as Lia Walti and Kafaji enter the pitch whilst Cooney-cross and Manuum leave for Arsenal.
Fujino and Miedema made way for city, with Miedema gaining an amazing reception, whilst Fowler and Kelly join the team.
Mead was the one who scored the equaliser for Arsenal as she hit the top of the net.
City later recieved a foul on the edge of the box, which was taken by greenwood but quickly was defended by the wall.
Post Match Analysis:
Both teams took a point each for their first game of the season as it ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals from Manuum, Mead, Park and Miedema.
Despite the draw both teams had amazing chances to go out and win the game with many standout players.
Codina played well to deny bunny shaw and throughout she remained in her position, in order to stay with Shaw, despite the deflection resulting in a goal.
Yamashita started for Manchester city who provided some good saves for the club yet struggled to clear on some occasions.
Mccabe was named player of the match due to her good defensive skills throughout which provided key blocks for Arsenal in preventing goals.
It was evident the importance that Manuum and Blackstenius provide to Arsenal as they continuously wanted to help the team push forward and have chances.
Also Jess Park is a key player who scored an excellent goal she is an exciting winger who is capable of both creating and scoring goals.
Arsenal will play next in the WSL on Sunday against Leicester City, whilst Manchester City will play their first home game against West ham on Sunday.
