An Introduction to Chelsea Women

 Having won many titles during their time in the Women’s Super League it is clear that Chelsea Women are a very tactical side.

 

Chelsea have won seven Women’s Super League Titles, five FA Cups, two Continental Cups, the Spring Series and a Community Shield.  

 

 

Last season, Chelsea won the WSL title, which they have done for five consecutive years.  

 

They were also successful in reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals however suffered defeate against Barcelona.  

 

 

During this matchup, Chelsea beat Barcelona 1-0 away at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.  

 

 

Which is the first time in five years that Barcelona has been beaten on home soil. 

 

 

Emma Hayes: Her legacy & remarkable career at Chelsea: 

 

 

Emma Hayes made her mark in Women’s Football in the Women’s Super League.  

 

She had been very successful by winning the WSL title six times, four FA Cups and two League Cups.  

 

 

She coached The Blues to the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final 2020/21 season, where they played Barcelona. 

 


The Impact of the New Chelsea Summer Signings: 

 

 

Lucy Bronze is one of the standout players for Chelsea Women ahead of this Women’s Super League campaign.  

 

 

Before she joined Chelsea Women, she played for Barcelona having joined Barcelona just after the Women’s European Championship. 

 

 

She is a technical right back at the highest level of Women’s Football.  

 

 

Another standout player for Chelsea has been Sandy Baltimore,  she has already made her debut for The Blues and has scored two goals. 

 

 

Baltimore is an ambitious forward and during this WSL campaign, she will be a key player in the crucial moments for Chelsea.  


 

The rise of the academy players to the first team: 

 

 

One key academy player is Lexi Potter, who is a tactical midfielder which we have seen on the England under-19s team during the u19s Women’s European Championships.  

 

 

Last season, Potter spent her time on loan at Crystal Palace, where she helped gain promotion with The Eagles for the first time.  

 

 

Crystal Palace is where Lexi Potter will spend her 2024/25 season on loan. 

 

 

On return, Chelsea’s midfield will look magical, with the technical experience of the players. 

 

 

Another key academy player is Katie Cox, an incredible Goalkeeper who has also represented England at the youth level.  

 

 

In the future, Katie Cox will be a standout player for both England and Chelsea. 

 

 

How did Chelsea do on Matchday One of the Women’s Super League? 

 

 

On Matchday 1, Chelsea took on Aston Villa on home soil on Friday 20th of September. 

 

 This game finished 1-0 to The Blues. Rytting Kaneryd opened the score line in the first half.
