On game week three of the Women’s Super league, Arsenal are set to take on Everton at the Emirates stadium.
The match will be played at 2pm on Sunday the 6th of October.
Arsenal will be granted with the home advantage playing at the Emirates stadium, a big push forward in women’s football as Arsenal’s home games will be played there.
Arsenal will attempt to record a third consecutive victory in all competitions when they welcome Everton to Emirates Stadium.
How is it currently looking for both teams?
Everton have experienced a difficult start to the WSL season having lost their opening 2 league games and they are currently placed 11th in the WSL table as they hope to perhaps secure their first victory at the Emirates.
The Toffee’s fell to a heavy defeat against Brighton as they lost 4-0, they unfortunately then went on to lose 1-0 against Manchester United.
Everton will now turn their attention to Sunday’s clash.
Meanwhile Arsenal sit in 4th place with 4 points after they drew 2-2 to Manchester city in the opening weekend and took all three points in their away victory against Leicester
They will want the crucial win to build momentum as important fixtures await such as Bayern Munich.
Previous Matchup:
Last season in April when both teams were head-to-head this ended in a 1-1 draw at Walton Hall Park.
These goals were scored by Russo who scored first, yet the 16-year-old sensation Hobson managed to find the back of the net in the 95th minute avoiding a loss for Everton.
Given this result, the Toffee’s should have high hopes coming into Sunday’s fixture.
Managers opinions:
Brian Sorensen insists the side he sets up away at Arsenal will be going to get something out of the game rather than simply defend for 90 minutes.
He went on to say that Arsenal are: “a well-coached side” with “good talents in their squad”.
Eidvall explained that there is “a lot of positives” to take from the team but “things we should be doing better as well”.
Injury News:
Aurora Galli and Inma Gabbaro, both of whom are out for the season after suffering ACL injuries.
Lawley will not be in the squad after fracturing her elbow and Holmgaard is not ready to return
Wienroither is out of the squad for Arsenal after sustaining a minor injury, as Catley and Williamson return to the team.
