Barcelona head to the Joie stadium on the 9th of October for a 20:00 kick off against Manchester City, for their opening game in the UEFA women’s Champions League.
Wednesday’s game it is set to be a sell out as all tickets are sold as many fans head to watch both teams demonstrate the high level of ability they hold.
Barcelona are the current reigning champions as they went on to beat Lyon in the final back in May.
This happened as they left Chelsea devastated when they beat them 2-1 on aggregate to progress to the final.
Barcelona is no doubt the favourites, as they currently have an overwhelming three Champions league titles with sensational talent in their team.
City have been excluded from the European party in the past seasons.
They failed to qualify in consecutive years, losing to Real Madrid on both occasions.
They completed a sensation 8-0 on aggregate win against Paris FC to progress on into the Champions league.
Gareth Taylor said that “we can go a long way” and “anything can happen”.
Taylor seems to have high hopes for his team and sees it as an opportunity to demonstrate their talent.
Previous meetings:
Both clubs last came face to face in March 2021 when Manchester City went on to record a 2-1 victory in the Women’s Champions League quarter final second leg.
A goal scored by Oshoala for Barcelona, and Mewis and Beckie found the back of the net for city.
Yet this did not allow City to progress to the semi-finals as in the first leg when they headed to Barcelona they were left with a heavy 3-0 defeat.
