Isabella ‘Issy’ Hobson is a sixteen year old professional footballer for Everton women football club.
So far in her career she has made six appearances for her club and scored one goal which was against Arsenal.
The Rise Of Issy Hobson:
Hobson’s career began in her home team's academy, Everton.
Over some time, Hobson progressed through Everton's acadamy and eventually made her senior team debut in early 2024 against Leicester City in a league cup game, formally known as the Conti Cup.
The youngster played 35 minutes of the devastating 5-1 loss.
Her first Women's Super League appearance didn't come long after; as on March 2nd, Hobson made her WSL debut from the bench against Manchester City.
The game, however, that stands out is against Arsenal.
On April 28th, Everton faced Arsenal who had a strong team and were in the running for the 23/24 title.
Hobson was named in the squad who would face this team however she was sat on the bench for most of the game.
Hobson was subbed on with the score being 0-1 and Everton were running out of time, to turn things around.
Everton were awarded a corner and from this set piece Hobson became the WSL youngest goal scorer of all time.
This stoppage time goal ended the game with the score being 1-1 at Walton Hall Park.
This goal was also then nominated for WSL, April, goal of the month.
International Career:
As such a young player being called up to play for your national team is a big achievement.
Hobson’s international career started with the u-17 lionesses where she made her debut on the November 4th 2023 against the Netherlands.
This game ended in a 6-0 win over the Northern Island national team.
Shortly after she made her first start in the teams 2-0 win over the Philippines playing a total of 29 minutes of this match.
Recently, Hobson has been called up to the u-19 team after showing off her talent in the WSL and for the u-17 lionesses.
She will be available for the Algarve cup matches against the Netherlands and Norway.
